The $35K grant will support integrating university medical students into high-need areas for immersive training and community support

California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) today announced that the 2025 MD graduating class received residency placements as part of the national Match Day event. Sixty-six percent of CUSM Doctor of Medicine (MD) grads will perform their residency in southern California; twenty-eight percent will remain in the Inland Empire. Match Day is the culmination of the National Resident Matching Program, in which all graduating MDs seek residency positions in their chosen specialty. At the same time, across the country (9 a.m. Pacific Time, Friday, March 21, 2025), graduating medical students learn where they will spend the next three to seven years of their lives.

California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) School of Medicine today announced that the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) awarded Provisional Accreditation to the university's Doctor of Medicine program. This is a milestone achievement in the path to full accreditation and is the culmination of years of dedication and the success of talented students, faculty, and leadership. LCME Accreditation is a multi-step process ensuring rigorous and complete review of medical schools in the United States. Provisional Accreditation is the last step before Full Accreditation status can be achieved. CUSM accepted its first students in 2018 and has graduated two MD classes to date, with the third class graduating in May.

California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) today announced it had achieved accreditation status from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Accreditation validates that the CUSM community and its purpose are appropriate and are being accomplished through viable education programs.

California University of Science and Medicine’s (CUSM) second MD class of 80 medical students today participated in the national Match Day event. All CUSM students matched into residency programs across the country, with 26 performing their residency in the Inland Empire and 54 remaining throughout California. Match Day is the culmination of the National Residence Match Program, in which all graduating MDs seek residency or fellowship positions in their chosen specialty.

The California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), School of Medicine, celebrated its first graduation on May 21, 2022 as the inaugural class of 62 students received their medical degree. The ceremony featured a $10 million donation to the school from the Prime Healthcare Foundation, a commencement address from Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN, and a video address from California Governor Gavin Newsom and First Lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom sharing their support of the mission and students.
